Love Note ~ Dyan & Ted

Dyan and Ted were married on a private balcony at BOA Steakhouse, Las Vegas, overlooking the lights of the Las Vegas Strip. One of my favorite things about Dyan and Ted was their complete commitment to the idea that you could host a beautiful, elegant affair in Las Vegas while still including a few signature Vegas style points. From the black linens and towering floral arrangements (Botanica Las Vegas) to the retro-style DJ and surprise Elvis, this wedding was a perfect marriage of Dyan’s New York sensibility and Ted’s love of Sin City. I am proud to share some of their personal photos and their love note with you, and honored to call them friends!

Ted & I just wanted to say thank you for everything you did to make our wedding so amazing for us! We cannot praise you enough! If it weren’t for you, my wedding would have been just another affair at a (probably cheesy). From moving the ceremony to making sure that our flowers were exactly what I wanted and that our photographer got the perfect shot, we could not have asked for anything more. The food and service was amazing, and everyone had a great time with the DJ and our surprise Elvis!
AND, more importantly, with my strong, high maintenance, type-A personality, you managed me perfectly and never made me feel like I was bothering you or taking up too much of your time. You were never “just” my wedding planner, and that’s why I will always love you!! You put me at ease and I couldn’t have been happier. My wedding was everything I had wanted and dreamed of, from the beautiful sunset ceremony to the delicious food, I couldn’t have done it better myself. That’s HUGE in my book!
(You being from NY too played no part in my decision at all…ok, maybe a little…)

Can’t wait to see you next year on our anniversary!

Memory Lane Videography ~ Vendor Spotlight

Ricky Gulati & John Sanchez Jr.

Memory Lane Owners Ricky Gulati & John Sanchez Jr. Photo provided by Memory Lane.

In my life, personally an professionally, I am consistently drawn to people who view the world through a “different” set of eyes.  The ability to find an emotion or a memory in the smallest of details, and then capture and share that moment with others who may have missed it is more than a talent.  It’s an art.

Some artists look at the world and see Romance.  Some see Elegance and Glamour. Others see visions of Shabby Chic, or Vintage, or Southern Charm.  And some see…Something else.

Ricky Gulati and John Sanchez, Jr. are the owners of Memory Lane Video, a company specializing in avante-guard wedding cinema.  One of the things I love most about these guys is their total commitment to art and style.  The wheels are always turning as they search their client meetings and  for any little thing to turn into a story.  Known worldwide thanks to their numerous awards, such as Las Vegas Bride’s Videographer of the Year, 2009, and features on everything from The Knot to Luxury Magazine and TLC, Gulati & Sanchez are for the bride looking to push the envelope while still maintaining the integrity of their day.

Through the use of cameras rigged to mini-helicopiters, cutting edge editing, and voice overs from family and friends Memory Lane will tell your story in a way that is both interesting and touching at the same time.

Last weekend I attended the Bridal Spectacular and had the opportunity to hear Randy Fenoli speak.  Randy Fenoli, Fashion Director at Kleinfeld New York and breakout star of TLC’s “Say Yes to the Dress”, brings over 15 years of experience to bridal fashion.  He’s known for his style, class, and the ability to look at a bride and almost immediately pull the right dress.  My mother and I have spent many a Friday night watching him together, getting a kick out of him!  I was only sorry that she did not join me at the show.

As I sat in and listened to Randy speak about his early years growing up on a farm through his time as a costume designer and, later, a bridal atelier, fashion director, and now author, I was struck by more than his knowledge (vast) and how impeccably dressed he was (flawless – Note how his socks match his pocket square!)…What really impressed me what the passion he has for dressing brides and his complete, unshakable belief that there is something beautiful in every woman. Randy will soon publish his first book “It’s All About the Dress” and was kind enough to preview some of his rules for wedding dress shopping, brought to life with a photos of real brides he has worked with in the past.  I don’t want to ruin the reveal later, and so I won’t publish the photos here, but I will say this…

I Am A Fan! Thank You Randy Fenoli for making the trip to Las Vegas.  You are a True Gentleman!

Las Vegas Wedding Planner Andrea Eppolito offers her planning tips…Meet Pinterest!

Way back when (remember the ’80s, anyone?) as soon as a girl became engaged she would run to the store and start tearing through magazines, ripping out pictures of the dresses and flowers she loved and to hang on the wall or stuff into a binder.  I remember a time when I would buy TWO copies of each magazine – One to keep on hand as a referral guide, and one to rip up and make mood boards with!

Today, we no longer run to the bookstore, we rush to our laptops, iPads, or anything else that will give us internet access.  Brides search dresses, flowers, venues, and photographers.  We look to our favorite celebrities for style cues, follow our favorite planners, watch the blogs of potential photographers – The list goes on and on!  And up until recently there has been a whole lot of “Right click and save to…” happening with brides across the world!  But where do you save these pictures and articles?  How do you keep them organized? What if the files are too large to send to your mom / bridesmaids / wedding planner and more?

Enter Pinterest! According to the “About Me” tab, “Pinterest is a virtual pinboard. Pinterest allows you to organize and share all the beautiful things you find on the web. You can browse pinboards created by other people to discover new things and get inspiration from people who share your interests.”

In short, ladies, Pinterest is your new Best Friend in wedding planning!

Imagine the possibilities!  You can have followers a la Facebook, share information on Twitter, and – the best part yet – if you install the Pin It! button onto your tool bar, you can literally pin, keep, and catalogue anything and everything you find on the internet for later!  By pinning pictures and organizing your images, you can immediately keep track of everything that inspires you, explain exactly what you are wanting to your wedding planner, and even allow your friends and family to contribute to your vision!

I use Pinterest with my brides to get a better understanding of what they want their weddings to look and feel like while we explore their unique style.  And I use it in my personal life to organize images that inspire me for my home, my wardrobe, and my life!

Sign up for Pinterest here, and follow my style boards for inspiration!  Repin, comment, and share!

Happy Pinning!

Las Vegas Wedding Planner Andrea Eppolito answers your questions!

Question:  My fiancé & I are eloping to Las Vegas and are looking for a unique location for our wedding ceremony.  We do not want to get married in a chapel or a house or worship, and are looking for suggestions.  What other options do we have? ~ C.

Answer:  Thank you for your question!  While Las Vegas has long been synonymous with chapel weddings, the city (and its surrounding areas) offers virtually limitless options to couples seeking a truly unique atmosphere for their nuptials.  Depending on the total size of your wedding and the level of formality you would like to achieve, consider any of the following options, some of which even double as reception locations!

In a Suite

In the Wine Cellar of a Private Restaurant

On a Balcony

On a Golf Course

Valley of Fire – More than 150 Million Years Old, this desert landscape is encase in red sandstone

Aboard a Yacht at Lake Las Vegas or Lake Mead

In a cabin at Mt. Charleston

Bella & Edward Wedding Invitation

Wedding Invitation ~ Bella & Edward, August 13th

While I admit that there is a part of me that feels rather silly, I cannot help but give a little nod to Bella Swan and Edward Cullen on this, their wedding day!  Or, rather, their first anniversary!

Whether you are 13 or 103, it has been nearly impossible to ignore the allure of Twilight.  Of all vampires, really.  The world has been obsessed with these mythical creatures for centuries.  Whether you prefer Nasferatu or Dracula, True Blood’s Sookie and Bill, or, alas, Twilight’s Bella and Edward, there is an unmistakable allure existing between a vampire and the mortal woman he falls in love with.  These tales encapsulates everything we women tend to dream about.  The delicious idea of a forbidden love rising up and overcoming all of the odds.  The tortured yet adorable bad boy turned hopeless romantic when he meets the woman of his dreams.  There is passion, longing, love, waiting and realization.   Since the inception of the Twilight series, the upcoming wedding of Bella Swan and Edward Cullen has been talked about, dreamed of, sketched, designed, and obsessed over.

We know that the ring is micro-pave, and the hair clip is vintage.  For the dress, the incomparable Carolina Herrera.  The stationary is classic, and the ceremony is takes place in the mystical forest they fell in love in.  The Twilight Saga has inspired more than a few love stories of its own, and will undoubtably serve as inspiration for many weddings to come.

So Congratulations Bella & Edward.  The world awaits the release of your “wedding video” ~ Coming Soon!

Michele & Walter Parra Wedding Dance

I just received the nicest testimonial from a former bride with some gorgeous photos!

Michele and Walter were married in October and hosted a gorgeous wedding on the private patio of BOA Steakhouse, where guests enjoyed a spectacular four course meal, premium open bar, wine pairing, dancing and more!  There was even a couture cocktail crafted by General Manager Brian Mongeon featuring Pisco, the drink of Walter’s native Peru.  Photos courtesy of Michele & Walter Parra.

Love Note ~

I had the pleasure of working with Andrea for about 6 months before our October 2010 wedding date in Las Vegas. I was planning a destination wedding in Las Vegas from the East Coast and immediately felt comfortable speaking with Andrea. Andrea was interested in helping us and giving us what we needed. She was extremely helpful from 3000 miles away — even through my moments of panic. Andrea assured me everything would be perfect. She was right! I couldn’t have asked for a better reception. We had about 40 people and Andrea helped me orgainze the menu in our price range and the space was set up exactly as we requested. Andrea was able to give us what we wanted and really listened to our budget, requests, emotions, etc… She made it more personal than just on paper in ink. For that I appreciate working with Andrea very much! I would recommend Andrea any day and would use her again for anything I had to plan in the Las Vegas area. Michele & Walt

Spotlight on Kara Ackerman – Bridal Party Baubles!

I am a firm believer in the notion that precious stones and metals carry energy and memories with them, much like people do.  On your wedding day, you will give and receive the most significant pieces of jewelry you will wear in your lifetime, and I love the idea of gifting your bridal party with jewels as well.  Especially the girls!  And I’m not talking about matchy-matchy prom inspired pieces from your local store, I’m talking about truly beautiful jewels worn by celebrities like Demi Moore, Olivia Wilde, Portia De Rossi, and more.  Allow me to introduce you to fabulous Kara Ackerman line!

Few designers do glamorous, affordable creations as well as celebrity-followed Kara Ackerman.  Having first been introduced to her collection on the pages of People magazine, I sent an email with a few questions and was beyond impressed to have received a response call by the designer herself!  She was beyond lovely, and has a passion creating pieces not only for the Hollywood elite, but for people like you and me!  Since then, I have gifted her pieces to my mother on her 60th birthday, my friends for various lifetime milestones, and I was lucky enough to receive one of her gold and diamond bangle bracelets from my Beloved as a gift.

A few weeks back while indulging in a little late-night online shopping I came across her Brooke Collection Pave Cocktail Ring and thought, “Gosh, that looks like Bella’s engagement ring from Twilight.  How fun would it be to give that to bridesmaids in a dramatic wedding party?”  Then I shopped some more.  Suddenly, everything on her page became the perfect bridesmaid piece! The Judie Collection Freshwater Pearls would be stunning for a preppy-meets-shabby-chic bridal party, and the “New” Jennifer cuff bracelet practically begs to be worn to a beach wedding!  And, just for fun, you can always swap the “New” Brooke Knot with your girls – It’s the junior high school friendship bracelet all grown up with a sophisticated finish!

And while you’re there, pick yourself up a little something, too… 🙂  Happy Shopping!
